Can I Get Into CUNY?

The CUNY Admission Profile for Freshman Fall 2023 provides detailed information about the average high school grades required for general admission and the SEEK/College Discovery program across various CUNY colleges. For example, the general admission high school average for Baruch College is 93.0, while for the SEEK/College Discovery program, it's 82.7. Each college has its own set of requirements, with some differences between general admission and the SEEK/College Discovery program.

Based on this information, when applying to CUNY, students can choose up to seven schools. It's important to categorize these choices as 'reach,' 'target,' and 'safety' schools:

  1. Reach Schools: These are colleges where your academic credentials fall below the school's range for the average freshman. They should be long-shot but still possible choices.
  2. Target Schools: Your academic credentials (grades, SAT or ACT scores, etc.) are well within the school's average range for the typical freshman. These schools are neither safe bets nor long shots.
  3. Safety Schools: Your academic credentials exceed the school's range for the average freshman. You can be reasonably certain that you will be admitted to these schools.
